For my thesis precedents I chose

Clothing Traceability – both of our thesis look at tracing through the supply chain to the source of production, both have an underlining environmental impact themes

Zombie Comp – both of our thesis serve as a critique, also both are in the form of a series of objects

Data – both of our thesis use a series, both are critical, subversive, and both take a larger overarching issue and break it into smaller problems each with an accompanying project

Burkaphilia – both of our thesis have the intention of starting a dialogue, are critical design, both have themes of consumption and food as interface, both are explored through a series

Lightbox – both of our thesis intend to start a dialogue, both set out to inform viewers on a particular subject, bring awareness, and both have environmental impact themes

Frecipes – both of our thesis have to do with food, both use food as narrative, both promote awareness, and both are looking at the source of ingredients.

Also I wanted to list here my ideas/precedents board – I use Murally to keep track of all of my articles, images, etc I find on line.

Hi it’s Maya

Hey all!  I’m Maya aka luckypapaya.  I’m an artist who likes to make weird stuff. My thesis is about industrialized processed foods.  I have an outdated thesis blog here http://luckypapayasthesis.tumblr.com/ .  I’m working on a new blog but not there yet.

About Me:  I was born and raised in the foothills of Appalachia, in less elegant terms I was born a hillbilly.  My hippie parents had an organic garden for our vegetables and raised me a vegetarian.  I climbed a lot of trees, played in creeks, picked wildberries and shot cans with a bb gun until the age of 12 when my family moved to suburban northern Ohio.  I went to high school surrounded by corn fields and shopped with the Amish at Wal-Mart.  From high school graduation until college was a series of adventures in various areas of the country, I lived off the grid in an earth ship in New Mexico, and in redwood trees in Northern California.  I finally settled in Boulder, Colorado where I earned my BFA in photography and BA in Art History at the University of Colorado Boulder.  From Boulder I moved here to work and attend grad school.  That pretty much brings us up to the present and now you know my life story.  Looking forward to the semester, to thesis and to everything in between!!
